Although they don’t require a lot of maintenance, there are things to keep in mind. For instance, using the appropriate products for these hair patterns is crucial.As a rule of thumb, avoid products that contain ingredients such as parabens, sulfates, or alcohol. These ingredients are known to cause issues such as dryness which can result in shedding and tangling.

Additionally, heavy products such as gels and oils are not necessary when care for these hair patterns. Always remember that less is more. As such, the more product applied, the more you weigh down the hair. In general, a dime-sized amount of serum is all that’s needed unless you’re doing a deep conditioning treatment.

Co-wash simply refers to using conditioner and lukewarm water to refresh your extensions. While shampooing alone remove impurities, co-washing adds moisture. Prior to installing, co-washing is recommended which offers a fresh and clean foundation. Remember that the product has been through several hands during the manufacturing and fulfillment process for quality assurance.

Whether kinky straight or silky straight, you can't wear the same extensions forever. Sew-ins can stay in for up to two to three months with proper care and regular trips to your hairstylist. However, if your install is growing out before then, it's absolutely time for a redo. But to avoid your natural hair from matting and tangling, use your best judgement according to how fast your hair grows.

You can easily learn how to prepare your extensions before a good night's rest. Using a paddle brush, gently brush the area where the extensions are connected to your own hair. Using a bonnet or silk scarf, tie around the circumference of your head. Then, tie from around the back and knot it near your forehead area. This will keep the hair going in the same direction.

Wearing your straight extensions curly? Make sure you brush out the curls before starting a new style. Also, don't use too many products. Straight hair usually stays pretty good.

1. Using a paddle brush, gently brush your extensions from bottom to top.
2. Although wet hair breaks easily when wet, here you'll make an exception. Because you want your extensions to dry straight, brush hair while it's wet.
3. Use Hair Control Studio's Love & Adore Shampoo and Conditioner. Gently wash your extensions in lukewarm water with the back of your head facing the shower head. This allows your extensions to flow downward the way you brushed it.
4. Squeeze, without wringing excess water from your extensions. Make sure not to rub the hair with the towel. Whenever possible, air drying is the best method.
5. If you must blow dry your extensions. Be sure to use a heat protectant spray prior to blow drying to extend the lifespan of the hair. Also, use medium to low temperature to avoid drying out the hair.
